Veterans' Pentacle Rights Initiative
Our Vision...
is to secure our religious rights and combat discrimination through our spiritual expression and physical action. It includes active public education, media attention, and securing broad public support.
This regional expression of a national movement, began in response to a press editorial , regarding the Pentacle Rights Quest. The author supported the Veterans' Pentacle Rights issue, but felt that he should steer Wiccans "in the right direction", by pointing out to us that, "Wiccans suffer from extremely poor marketing". Those words in the editorial have become a call to action to the Pagan Spiritual Community. It is the time for Pagans and Wiccans to actively improve our "marketing skills" and create our own image. We work to erase fictional stories about our beliefs and symbols, and replace it with correct information about who we are and what we believe.
We believe the use of Community Ceremony (ritual), visible demonstrations of both our numbers and intentions (like the Human Pentacle Image Project) will have an effect in the securing of our religious rights. Increased public awareness through community involvement will help end religious discrimination and intolerance. Traditional methods of change; Congressional, Judicial, and Institutional letter writing; and News Media attention to the issues; will bring pressure to bear in Freedom and Liberty's favor.

 Community Organizing!
Contributing to the length of time this issue has gone unresolved and the ease with which obstacles have been placed to block the pursuit of these rights, is the Wiccan/Neopagan Community's decentralized and fractured nature. We have come to believe that all the various expressions of our nature based beliefs need to join together and work in concert to achieve these rights. The Upper Midwest Region has many successful and long standing organizations, and we believe the urgency and importance that this common task, the Veterans' Pentacle Rights Initiative has presented, will aid us in becoming a more unified spiritual community.
