UMPA and the Pentacle Quest - Summary
~~ View our Pentacle Archives ~~
The Upper Midwest Pagan Alliance was formed in January 2007, growing from our communities response to the injustice represented by the Pentacle Quest. Our immediate activities focused on this issue, culminating in the Pentacle Rights Ritual at the Minnesota State Capital, in a blizzard on Febuary 24th, 2007. In a short 40 days we organized, produced an informative color brochure, made press contacts, and secured the Capital grounds for the event. Afterwards, we continued action through submitting comments to the VA regarding their proposed rules for symbols of belief. We collected and posted images of pagans forming pentacles, and made contacts with veterans. We were planning our second public ritual when word came the Veterans Administration had settled the outstanding lawsuits, resolving the issue in April, 2007. This was a time of remarkable cooperation within our regional Pagan community, and this legacy of cooperation and joint action, is what we continue to foster in the Upper Midwest Pagan Alliance

The Upper Midwest Pagan Alliance had a short, but important role in this Pentacle Quest. Many groups nationwide participated for over ten years, and Selena Fox, of Circle Sanctuary was one of the main forces, and a party one lawsuit. We thank all who contributed to this Quest, and particularly Selena, who supported our efforts in many ways, when we were still just a name. To read Circle Sanctuary's history of this Pentacle Quest please visit their archives.
