Anoka Highway 10 "Adopt a Highway" Cleanup Project

UMPA has now cleaned up about 2/3 of our 2.8 mile stretch of HWY 10, between Hansen and Foley Blvd. in Anoka. We are signed up through the MNDOT. as an Adopt a Highway sponsor, and have this commitment for two years. We began in May, with a kind of late start, as the area was in bad shape! By our second cleanup day in June, the grass was already long, and mowed in portions.
To date we have about 150 person hours invested in restoring this portion of the Earth to beauty. We have already bagged approximately 150 bags of trash. This area contains a small creek and several wetland areas. It is highly trafficked. Our MNDOT sign was recently posted, on the North bound side of HWY 10, just past the Foley interchange. Please check it out, and send in a photo! We will resume cleanup again in late September, both finishing the center .9 miles, and maintaining the 1.9 miles already restored.
